Solar Eclipse from Space

Beautiful image of the recent solar eclipse taken from the International Space Station(ISS). Also NASA has a 'Astronomy Picture of the Day' gallery that always has some amazing images.

"The International Space Station (ISS) was in position to view the umbra (ground) shadow cast by the Moon as it moved between the Sun and the Earth during the solar eclipse on March 29, 2006. This astronaut image capture the umbral shadow across southern Turkey, northen Cypreus, and the Mediterranean Sea."

Cai Guo-Qiang

Part of Cai Gua-Qiang's Inopportune installation at the Mass MoCA way, way back in 2003, kinda out of date but thought it made a nice addition to the PimpStar post.....ya know cars and lights ya'll.

PimpStar

PimpStar...the theory of persistence of vision finally put to good use...nough said.

"The PimpStar is a huge leap forward in the evolution of the wheel. With the PimpStar's built-in full color LED lights, microprocessor and wireless modem, you can display virtually any image, including text, graphics, logos, and even digital photos!

The included software allows you to create your own images and send them to each wheel individually or all wheels at the same time as you drive! You can even pre-load up to six images into each wheel and program them to change automatically at the time intervals you select. The wheels are environmentally sealed, so you don't have to worry about going to the car wash; and they are powered by the vehicle electrical system so there are no batteries to run out or change, ever. Third Person Perspective

Takehito Ettani is an artist working with electronics, wearables, sculpture, video and performance. The Third Eye Project is part of his spiritual prosthetics series and gives the wearer a type of out of body experience by providing the wearer with a third person view of themselves similiar to the way one sees a character in a video game.

“The Third Eye" is a video device that is mounted onto the user's head enabling the person to experience perception from outside of his/her body. The device consists of a mono-eyed goggle with a 2-inch LCD monitor and a tiny surveillance camera held above the user's head."

"
The visual experience of “The Third Eye” is similar to that of a 3D video game in which the user controls and follows a given character from behind. The device turns the user into the character that he/she is controlling and real space is transformed into virtual space."

He also does some performance video work with this walking through times square, def check out the videos on his site.
